Magnetic separators are devices used to capture and remove ferrous metals from products that need to be purified. They are essential in industries like mining, recycling, and food processing, where the removal of unwanted metals is crucial to the quality of the final product.


The working principle of a magnetic separator is simple: it uses a magnetic field to attract and capture ferrous particles that are flowing through a conduit or material stream. In most cases, the magnetic field is generated by a magnet or series of magnets that are either permanent or electromagnets.

 

One of the most common types of magnetic separators is the drum magnetic separator. It is composed of a rotating magnetic drum that is housed in a stainless-steel tank. As the material flows through the tank, the ferrous particles are attracted to the magnetic drum, and are captured and held by the magnetic field. Non-ferrous particles pass through the tank and are discharged.


Another type of magnetic separator is the plate magnetic separator, which consists of a series of magnets arranged on a plate. The plate is placed above the material flow and attracts ferrous particles to it, allowing non-ferrous particles to pass underneath.


Magnetic separators also come in various strengths, depending on the application's requirements. Magnetic strength is measured in Gauss or Tesla and refers to the amount of force that the magnetic field can exert on ferrous particles.
