First, a mixture of neodymium, iron, and boron is melted in a furnace at a temperature of about 1,600 degrees Celsius. The melted metal is then cooled rapidly to form a solid alloy. This process is known as quenching, and it creates a fine-grained material with high magnetic properties.

The alloy is then chopped into small pieces and ground into fine powder. This powder is then pressed into a mold, which is heated in a furnace to sinter the particles together. Sintering is a process by which the powder is compacted and heated to the point where the individual particles fuse together to form a solid piece.

Once the neodymium magnet has been sintered, it is then cut into its final shape and coated with a protective layer to prevent it from breaking or chipping. The protective layer is usually made of nickel, but other materials such as epoxy or gold can also be used.
